SFU scientists weigh in on changes to the Envrionmental Assessment Act tabled under Bill 51 of the 2018 legislative session, 3rd session, 41st Parliament. The scientists are concerned the proposed legislation retains three deficiencies of current practice that are at odds with the foundations of science-based decisions, namely, a lack of scientific independence, of peer-review, and of transparency.
