The memorandum of understanding is between B.C. Assets and Land Corporation and Ministry of Forests. The MOU explains the relationship between the parties. It arises because Whistler Blackcomb wanted to expand its operations onto the south side of Whistler Mountain into the SOO TSA and Whistler Interpretive Forest. In giving its support to the proposed expansion, BCALC stipulated that recreational uses such as hiking, cross country skiing and biking would continue in the expansion area. To the extent that the expansion of alpine skiing would occur, it would be shared with existing uses.
