The Provincial Government just launched a new website and released the latest public survey results for the Shannon Basin.
I am personally pleased to see this increase in transparency and publicly available documentation by our government.

Sea to Sky Visitor Use Management

The B.C. government, in partnership with Squamish and Líl̓wat Nations, is working to guide future recreation management and monitoring in the Sea to Sky Natural Resource District to address impacts from visitor use on cultural values and opportunities, the environment, wildlife, and visitor experience. This process also includes collaboration with local government and engagement with stakeholders and the public.

BC Trails Strategic Review
An important BC Government strategic Trail Review and Planning is underway. Public comment and input is currently being solicited.
It is important that the voice and wishes of the non-motorized backcountry recreation community is heard and represented. Submit your comments at the bottom link (the image).

Probyn Forest Stewardship Plan overlaps 37 recreation trails and access routes
I participated with the Federation of Mountain Clubs of B.C. in identifying 37 recreation trails and mountain access routes in the massive Probyn Log Ltd. forest stewardship plan. The purpose of the FSP is to outline objectives set forth by the Government of British Columbia related to forest management activities proposed on crown lands.
Probyn is seeking a term of 5 years for this FSP. The map below shows the forest development unit areas. Stake holders, interested parties and the general public were made aware that the FSP was available for review and comment. The comment period ends today.
It is important that recreation groups participate in these opportunities. Unfortunately, Facebook posts, comments and Likes are irrelevant to this process. If you feel the need to comment on these opportunities, get involved with a recreation and/or conservation advocacy group to contribute.

British Columbians who love the great outdoors will soon have nearly 600 new campsites to choose from.

The province announced plans Thursday to build 362 new campsites in 13 provincial parks, and an additional 232 new campsites at a dozen recreation sites.

The new sites stack on to 431 spaces built in 2018, making for more than 1,000 new sites in total. The province also says camping fees will not be increased this year.
